Why now? The building is the former Three Springs juvenile facility. The city purchased the property in 2020, wanting to transform the space into something positive for the community. This community center is designed to meet the needs of our city, both currently and in the future.

Results from the community-wide vision sessions and survey identified the following as priorities for development:

  • Aquatic and basketball facilities

  • More ballfields, to include baseball, softball, soccer, football, and pickleball

  • Multi-use park facilities and a recreation center on the west side of Madison

  • New recreational programs to accommodate demand

  • Inclusive recreation for special populations

Our population is growing at a steady pace and with that comes the demand for more recreational offerings that this centrally-located community center can provide. Our senior population makes up almost 12 percent of our total population. The current center has outgrown its space for our seniors and Meals on Wheels program.

Why invest in the Madison Community Center?

arts
  • Community centers enhance the quality of life for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities by giving them access to affordable facilities and programs that bring families and neighbors together.

  • This impact investment will see returns in the short and long term, as this will be a community staple for generations to come.

  • Your investment allows for increased access to green space and nature, help bring important services and programs to the community, and improve the physical and mental health of all residents.

  • Community centers are incredibly important for a healthy, vibrant community.

  • Your investment will provide a vital line of connection for our senior population. In fact, senior centers are one of the most widely used services among America’s older adults.

  • Compared with their peers, senior center participants have higher levels of health, social interaction, and life satisfaction.

  • The social bonds that are created at community centers help build strong, safe and inclusive communities; social interaction, volunteerism, civic pride and aesthetics all play a role.
