2025 Community Impact Grant Spotlight: Rocket City Modern Quilt Guild

Rocket City Modern Quilt Guild received a 2025 Community Impact Grant from MVP in the amount of $750 to assist with their pillowcase project for the North Alabama Foster Closet.

"Each year, Rocket City Modern Quilt Guild donates numerous pillowcases to the North Alabama Foster Closet. We rely primarily on donated fabrics from our members and from the community to make these pillowcases. With the generous grant from MVP we were able to purchase fabrics in commonly requested prints such as cartoon characters, superheroes, and college teams," said Meghan Nester, VP of Programming for Rocket City Modern Quilt Guild.

"In October, our guild gathered at the Madison Library for a 'pajamas and pillowcases' party. We cut the fabrics into the dimensions needed, kitted them up together into coordinating pillow bodies, cuffs, and trim, and had an assembly line of sewists putting the pieces together. The grant money covered enough supplies for about 70 pillowcases! We have made our way through most of the kits, with a few left over to finish up."

"In early December, our guild president dropped off 68 completed pillowcases to the North Alabama Foster Closet. We hope that our contribution offers a bit of comfort to children going through a difficult time. Thank you so much for supporting our efforts! We are extremely grateful!"
