MVP Board Spotlight: Marc Jacobson

Meet the Madison Visionary Partners Board! This month we are featuring Marc Jacobson.

Marc Jacobson is a Senior Advisor with the UAH APEX Accelerator, where he helps small businesses succeed in the government marketplace. A West Point graduate, Army veteran, and former Madison City Councilmember, Marc spent more than 30 years in the defense industry. He is passionate about strengthening the Madison community through leadership, volunteerism, and connecting people and organizations to achieve meaningful results.

Why is MVP important to you? What do you enjoy most about being part of the

board?

"Madison has experienced tremendous growth, and MVP plays an important role in working alongside the city to ensure our community continues to thrive, while maintaining the qualities that make it such a great place to live. I enjoy serving alongside people who are passionate about giving back and working together to make things happen that improve the quality of life in the community."

Why do you like living in Madison?

"Madison offers the best of both worlds - a strong sense of community with the opportunities and innovation that come from being part of one of the nation's leading technology and defense regions. It's a welcoming city with excellent schools, engaged citizens, and people who care."

What is your favorite thing to do in Madison?

"I enjoy supporting local community events as a volunteer with MVP, Rotary, and other local non-profits. I enjoy spending time with my family and taking advantage of Madison's paths and greenways for walking, running, and biking."

Can you share a fun fact about yourself or explain something you enjoy doing outside of work?

"I've had several careers: Army officer and helicopter pilot, defense industry executive, city council member, and now helping small businesses succeed through the APEX Accelerator program. Outside of work, I enjoy volunteer activities, travel with my wife, golf (when the weather is perfect!), and staying active by walking several miles each day. Serving the community and finding ways to make a difference have always been important to me."
