Thanks to the support of our amazing community, the inaugural Madison Witches Ride was a magical success! It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in October, and 89 Witches tossed over 100,000 pieces of candy to kids and families at Palmer Park. A variety of witches were represented - a whole garden of flower witches, cackling wicked witches, sweet fairy witches, beautiful sorceresses, Day of the Dead witches, punked-out goth witches, hedge witches, and even a wizard or two!
At the Black Hat Block Party after the Witches Ride, kids enjoyed face painting, some field games, a bouncy house, and local food trucks. The pet costume pageant featured 14 dogs dressed as bumblebees, bats, pumpkins, spiders, witches, and a winning plate of spaghetti & meatballs. There was even one pet chicken dressed as a raven for Halloween! We awarded gold bat trophies for some of the day's favorites:
Best Costume - Cara Sexton Welsh, Day of the Dead Costume & Trike
Best Cackle - Eva Bryce
Best Broom - Nora Bahr & the Madison Library
Best Group Costume - Lauren Whitehead
Best Pet Costume - Hershey, owners Hannah & Joe Talley
Thank you to the gorgeous witches, all the excited children and spectators, our generous community sponsors, and hard-working volunteers for making this first year an enchanting success. Because of you, we were able to raise $6128 for the Kids Kingdom Renovation project. Your support means so much, and we can’t wait to make the Madison Witches Ride even bigger and better next year!
Save the Date- next Witches Ride will be October 22, 2023!
