MVP Board Spotlight: Chris Lindsey

Meet the Madison Visionary Partners board! This month we are featuring Chris Lindsey.

Chris has been a banker for 29+ years, with 25 of those years spent working in Madison. He and his wife Susan have three daughters: Anna, Emma Kate, and Lila. Chris enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and watching Alabama football and basketball.

Why is MVP important to you?  What do you enjoy most about being part of the board?

"MVP is important to me because of its focus on actively trying to improve the quality of life for all residents in the  overall Madison community through various community projects (i.e. Senior Center, Kid’s Kingdom, Miracle League Park, etc.).  I also appreciate that MVP, through the Madision Visionary Awards, recognizes the efforts of citizens who take an active role in helping in that effort.

I enjoy being on the board and knowing that I am assisting in the effort of improving Madison as a place to Work, Live, and Play."

Why do you like working/living in Madison? 

"Madison is a thriving community and as someone who has roots in Madison dating back to the early 1970’s, which includes raising my own three children in Madison City as well as working in the community, it has been extremely exciting to see how significantly Madison has grown from both a residential and economic standpoint.  The community offers everything from an airport to a full-service hospital to a movie theater to top tier restaurants to awesome outdoor green spaces.  It’s truly an exciting time to be part of the fabric of the Madison community."

What is your favorite thing to do in Madison?

"My favorite thing to do in Madison (beside work ) is probably eat.  The diversity in the restaurant scene that has developed in the last 5 – 10 years has been great.  We have anything and everything to satisfy any food craving you may have."

Can you share a fun fact about yourself or explain something you enjoy doing outside of work?

"My favorite thing to do (again when I’m not working ) is to play golf and to just be outside.  My golf game allows me satisfy my love for nature as I spend a lot of time in the woods looking for my ball."

Is there a favorite quote or mantra that inspires you? 

"I’ve always been fond of this quote from a poem called a “A New Day” that Bear Bryant kept folded in his wallet:

'This is the beginning of a new day. God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is very important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving something in its place I have traded for it. I want it to be gain, not loss, good, not evil. Success, not failure in order that I shall not forget the price I paid for it.'"
