Meet the Madison Visionary Partners Board! This month we are highlighting Johna Brazeal.

ree

My husband Mark and I have lived in Madison for over 20 years and we have 3 sons. Our sons, Garrison, Evan and Reece are graduates or will graduate from Bob Jones High School. We continue to chose to live in Madison because of our outstanding school system. We relocated here from Kentucky where I am originally from 29 years ago for my husband to take a job with Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama, and now he works with Mazda Toyota Manufacturing US.

Volunteering is my passion and was modeled for me to this day by my sweet parents. I do work part-time at Trinity Baptist Workday Preschool loving on little ones in the infant room. It is the best job ever!!! I also love volunteering/teaching preschoolers through Trinity Baptist’s Wednesday Night Missions Program. For 20 years I have co-taught Mission Friends teaching preschoolers that they can make a difference in their community and show God’s love in their community through various projects that we work on together through our weekly lessons such as packing treat bags for our local DHR employees. I have volunteered in some aspect through Madison City Schools for the over 15 years serving as a Room Parent, PTA Board Member and currently I am the Fundraising Coordinator for BJHS Baseball. I really enjoy supporting our outstanding coaching staff and amazing students athletes. I am so proud to work with one of the absolute best baseball programs in the state of Alabama.

I am completing my 5th year as a Board member for Madison Visionary Partners. I am so proud of the impact we have had on our city and I know we will continue to chose to connect our residents to initiatives that will impact them. I want my Madison FRIENDs to continue to love where they live like I do.

Why is MVP important to you?

I love joining together with other community leaders and helping to identify initiatives or projects that our residents care about, and helping to fundraise to make those projects a reality. I am most proud of our annual event of the Madison Visionary Awards. I love recognizing our outstanding volunteers in our community and highlighting other nonprofits through our mini grant process.

Why do you like living in Madison?

I have had the privilege of living in Madison for 23 years. We love the small town feel with all of the amenities of a larger city. Our family actually moved away for a year but missed Madison so much that we chose to move back here.

What is your favorite thing to do in Madison?

I love shopping downtown, eating at our local restaurants, and supporting our schools and athletic programs

Can you share a fun fact about yourself or explain something you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love to decorate for holidays and I love volunteering at my church with children and youth activities. I lead a volunteer organization through my church called Wednesday Wonders and we join together to work on church and community projects that include wrapping gifts for Christmas for students in need at our Madison City Schools.
