Madison Visionary Partners launched the very first Big Weekend of Service on June 27-28, kicking off their new volunteer initiative, SERVE Madison. Volunteers of all ages rolled up their sleeves and showed what it means to serve with heart and purpose. From beautifying public spaces to supporting local nonprofits, each project was a chance to strengthen our community and make Madison an even better place to live, work, and play.

Here’s a look at what we accomplished together:

Courtyard Painting at West Madison PreK

Volunteers grabbed brushes and rollers to give the courtyard at the West Madison PreK Center a fresh coat of paint. This first step in refreshing the outdoor space gives the PreK center a clean background for a new mural to welcome students in August.

Stuffing Backpacks with Kids to Love

At the Kids to Love center, volunteers helped prepare backpacks full of school supplies for foster and underserved youth. Each backpack represents a child starting the school year with confidence, equipped with the tools they need to succeed. It was an act of love and support that will be felt long after the weekend is over.

Yard Work at Madison Hospital

We showed appreciation for our healthcare heroes by helping beautify the grounds at Madison Hospital. Volunteers weeded flower beds, trimmed shrubs, and spread fresh mulch—creating a peaceful, inviting space for patients, visitors, and staff to enjoy.

Cleaning Up at MVP’s Adopt a Spot

Community pride was on full display as volunteers cleaned up litter at MVP’s Adopt-a-Spot along Hughes Road. With trash bags in hand and determination in their hearts, our team helped keep Madison clean and beautiful. It was a simple act with a big impact.

Trail Building with Madison Greenways & Trails

Finally, our weekend wrapped up with an active effort to expand access to the outdoors. Volunteers worked with Madison Greenways & Trails to help build and improve walking trails—making it easier for families to explore and enjoy nature close to home.

Whether you picked up a paintbrush, pulled weeds, packed a backpack, or paved the way for future trail walks, you were part of something bigger than any one task. You were part of a movement—SERVE Madison—to connect hearts, hands, and organizations for the greater good.

We are incredibly grateful to all who participated in our Big Weekend of Service. Your time, energy, and kindness made a real difference. Stay tuned for more volunteer opportunities through SERVE Madison.
